Hell’s Kitchen and Cupcake Wars have nothing on culinary wunderkind Flynn McGarry and what he has in store for the brave few who walk into his Free Fail kitchen. Prepare not only to learn how to cook but how to navigate the pressures and pitfalls of getting the dishes plated and out the door. Young and sweet as he might appear, Flynn will be wielding a stopwatch and loudly shouting “Pass/Fail” depending on your culinary prowess. The good news is that pass or fail, everyone will get to have one of the best lunches around.
Flynn McGarry is 15 years old and already dominating the world of cooking. In addition to apprenticing at Alma in downtown Los Angeles, McGarry’s monthly supper club, EUREKA, has developed a cult following. Started out of his home (actually, his bedroom) in Studio City two years ago, EUREKA has moved to Bier Biesl restaurant in Beverly Hills. With McGarry as it’s executive chef, EUREKA serves up to 40 guests and features anywhere from 10 to 14 courses of a progressive American tasting menu created by McGarry. As word has spread, McGarry has taken his EUREKA tasting menu on the road—from Honolulu to Los Angeles to New York City. He has apprenticed and staged at Ray's and Stark Bar at LACMA; Alinea in Chicago; and Eleven Madison Park in New York. Not one to rest on his laurels, McGarry is working on a Dining With Flynn television series, cook book, and digital platform.
