Marc James Roels studied animation at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent, Belgium. He has directed three live-action short films, which have each garnered several international awards and nominations at film festivals, including the Berlin International Film Festival and the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival. Oh Willy... is his first animated short. Emma de Swaef studied documentary filmmaking at the Sint-Lukas Brussels University College of Art and Design in Brussels. Her graduate film, Soft Plants, was her first animated short, introducing the character of chubby office worker Willy.
