A striking follow-up to her 2007 international hit, Caramel, Nadine Labaki’s musical comedy Where Do We Go Now? offers a wildly creative take on the intractable religious conflict in Lebanon.
Sony Picture Classics Born in 1974 in Lebanon, Nadine Labaki received a degree in film studies from Beirut’s Saint Joseph University (IESAV). Her film, 11 Rue Pasteur (1997), was named the best short film at the Biennale of Arab Cinema (1998). In 2004 she participated in the Résidence at Cannes. There she finished writing Caramel, her first feature film, which was presented at the 2007 Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes. In 2009 she gave birth to a son and wrote Where Do We Go Now? (2011), her second feature film. |
