Detroit’s story has encapsulated the iconic narrative of America over the last century— the Great Migration of African Americans escaping Jim Crow; the rise of manufacturing and the middle class; the love affair with automobiles; the flowering of the American dream; and now . . . the collapse of the economy and the fading American mythos.
Heidi Ewing In 2007 Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady were nominated for an Academy Award for best documentary feature for Jesus Camp, a candid look at the children of the Christian right. Their 2005 documentary feature debut, The Boys of Baraka, chronicled the lives of 12‐year‐old boys who leave home to attend school in Kenya and was nominated for an Emmy. They made their Sundance Film Festival debut in 2010 with 12th & Delaware, a searing look at the abortion battle from two different sides of the same street. They are the founders of Loki Films. |
